With growing technology and automation in the industry Kingstone Insurance has not forgotten the need for personal service. For our Kingstone Select Producers we offer our online application raters and inquiry systems for its personal lines and commercial automobile products, which streamlines the process of placing business with the company. But we at Kingstone know that not everything can be accomplished through automation. There are times a producer might prefer to speak with a company representative instead. For this reason all of our Select Producers are assigned an underwriter to work with directly. The relationship with their underwriter is the principal reason Select Producers place their business with Kingstone.

Personal Lines
Our Homeowners programs provide coverage for owner occupied homes up to 4 families throughout New York State including Long Island. We offer dwelling coverage up to $1.3 million, up to $1 million in liability coverage and replacement cost on personal property. Our policy enhancements include Equipment Breakdown Coverage and Service Line Coverage. We also offer multiple deductible options that make certain our insureds' obtain the policy that is right for them.

Canine Legal Liability
AVAILABLE FOR ALL LICENSED PRODUCERS
Our Canine Legal Liability product provides liability and medical payment coverage for bodily injury and property damage caused by an elligible dog owned by the insured. Company History The Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company of Catskill, New York, was organized in 1886. The first officers were John H. Bagley, Jr., President; Omar V. Sage, Secretary; Clarence E. Bloodgood, Attorney and General Agent. Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company was the first advance premium company in the State of New York.

For many years after its organization, the Company’s operations were conducted in a frame building situated directly on the tidewater portion of the Catskill Creek.

In 1931 the Company moved to 302 Main Street in Catskill, New York. It was an impressive, fire-resistant, steel and masonry edifice solid enough to withstand an atomic attack. (It had been designated as a bomb shelter in the event of such an emergency)

In 1976 the Company name was changed to Commercial Mutual Insurance Company, to be more descriptive of the Company’s operations as they were at that time.

In December 1998 the Company moved to its present location at 15 Joys Lane, Kingston, New York.

In July 2009 the Company converted to a stock property and casualty insurance company and changed its name to Kingstone Insurance Company.

Barry Goldstein     Mr. Goldstein joined the Kingstone Insurance Company Board of Directors in 2005 and was elected as its Chairman and Chairman of the Executive Committee in January 2006. In 2008 he was elected to serve as our Chief Investment Officer. Mr. Goldstein serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kingstone Companies, Inc., parent of Kingstone Insurance Company. Mr. Goldstein received his B.A. and M.B.A. from State University of New York at Buffalo.

       Kingstone Insurance Company (KICO) was established in 1886 as a Cooperative Assessment Insurance Company with the purpose of serving the community in Greene and surrounding Counties. KICO has always prided itself on providing excellent customer service to its policyholders, producers and claimants. That tradition continues today, as our niche is the service we perform for our policyholders and producers. You will always find a live person answering the phone at KICO and a very prompt response to your request to quote, bind or other request.        This year KICO is celebrating its 125th anniversary and we will be celebrating that event with an open house in October. Today Kingstone is licensed as a stock property and casualty company. We write business only through independent agents and brokers and we currently write business only in New York. We recently received our license to do business in Pennsylvania and we will start writing business there later this year. Currently our premium volume is $33 million per year, consisting of homeowners, condominium, renters, dwelling fire, personal umbrella, full commercial automobile, business owners policies, artisan liability, SMP, and for hire vehicle physical damage. Kingstone writes and services all of its business out of its home office located in Kingston, New York. We currently have a Demotech rating of A (Excellent). A Demotech A rating qualifies Kingstone policies for all banks and finance companies. Kingstone has also earned a rating from AM Best of B+ (Good) and we are currently involved in the rating process for this year. All of Kingstone’s Reinsurers have an AM Best rating of A or better. Most of our business is reinsured under quota share reinsurance treaties. As we grow, we will retain more of our business, enabling us to make more profits thus permitting our writings to grow. We will add new coverages as we grow with the goal of being a full personal and commercial lines writer.

        Kingstone writes its business through select producers and we believe our relationship with our producers is the most important element of our success. We pay very competitive commission rates which grow as the volume increases. We will take accounts as low as $50,000 per year and will give you ample time to reach that volume. We also offer profit sharing for excellent loss ratios.

       Kingstone just commenced writing a new, innovative product called 'Canine Legal Liability' Insurance. This standalone policy fills in the gap caused by dog exclusions contained in homeowners and dwelling fire policies. We will provide Canine Legal Liability insurance up to $250,000 per occurrence for any breed of dog. This product is available to all licensed New York producers.

        Kingstone also writes Physical Damage Insurance for black cars and taxis under an innovative program. Kingstone recently created a special rate for hybrid vehicles used as black cars or taxis.

        In 2009, Kingstone has commenced writing business owners and artisan's liability policies. Our rates are very competitive. Kingstone commenced writing an SMP product in 2010. Most important to our company, however, is our relationship with our producers and policyholders. Excellent service is our niche in the marketplace. In the 2010 survey of insurers conducted by the professional insurance agents of NY and NJ, Kingstone finished number one out of 29 companies surveyed. This result confirms KICO's commitment to service.
